A Way Maker

The Second Chance Society is a way-maker who provides the small things that matter for so many that have nothing. We assist the homeless and other struggling men and women who have hit a low point in their lives. These people do not have the means to obtain the essential items they need to start a job that will allow them to begin rebuilding their lives.

Often all they need are basic tools, a uniform, work clothing, a license, or a certification that will allow them to start a job they have found. We are there for them so they may truly receive the second chance they deserve.

We also assist individuals that are in need of vocational training. Their tuition is usually paid for by federal, state or local government funds because they are homeless or low income, but the necessary books and supplies are not covered. Second Chance provides these items at no cost to the students.

Click on the left side menu titled "Case Managers" for info on how to be referred for assistance or email us at: help@secondchancesociety.org.

Life and License Renewed

Linda was a career nurse. For 35 years she maintained high professional standards, that is until her husband died. She tried to keep it together, but being a widow broke her wits. “I held it together for several months, until I just couldn’t handle it anymore…” she cried. “That’s when I hit the bottle.”

Her life quickly fell apart. She lost everything. She lived on the street and begged. She nearly lost her life. That’s what drove her to the Pompano Beach Broward Outreach Center.

Still she had nothing but expired nursing licenses and no resources. Nothing until Second Chance Society was able to provide the most essential part of getting back on her feet. SCS was able to provide Linda with the CPR course. That was it! She was able to start her life over and go back to work. She can handle her grief now. Linda says she is now a more understanding nurse. “Thank goodness for Second Chances!” she exclaims.

Making Life Meaningful

Randy was hungry. He was wet and cold. His bed was under an interstate bridge. He had given up on life. Tears of desperation mixed with the cold morning drizzle that streamed down his face.

Drugs and divorce devastated his life. Randy’s law degree and years of college education could not give him the peace he longed for. In desperation, he knocked on the doors of B.A.R.C. There he found guidance. That was when his life changed. His hope was restored.

Randy’s new life brought him to a new job with Endicott Isuzu. But he still had nothing but one shirt and was weeks away from his first paycheck. That’s when Second Chance Society stepped in.

We were able to outfit him with one complete set of professional clothing at a point in his life were he had nothing. He desperately needed to look his best when selling a new vehicle.

Randy's smile comes from the inside.
“I am so thankful!” he beamed. Years of drug abuse were wiped away by his peace with God and the gift SCS was able to give. We are thankful to be a small part of Randy’s life.
