For most of his life, Torrence Howard has used his hands to create something beautiful. A Marine Corps veteran and master barber, he’s shaped countless lives with every cut — but his own journey has been anything but easy.
After decades of battling addiction and mental health challenges, Torrence hit rock bottom. A painful divorce and sudden loss of housing left him without work, without tools, and without hope. For two months, he lived on the streets — but even then, he refused to give up.
With help from Fellowship Recovery and the VA, Torrence entered treatment and began rebuilding from the ground up. Now 180+ days sober, he’s found new purpose, stability, and strength.
When a local barbershop offered him a second chance, Torrence was ready — but he lacked the tools to return to work. That’s when Second Chance Society stepped in, providing the essential equipment he needed to get back behind the chair.
Today, Torrence is cutting hair again, earning an income, and rebuilding his confidence one client at a time.
Your support makes moments like this possible — turning heartbreak into hope and second chances into new beginnings.
Because of you, Torrence is not just surviving — he’s standing tall, clippers in hand, shaping his future one precise cut at a time.
