About the Program
Second Chance Society was founded on the belief that everyone—no matter where they are in life— deserves the chance to build a better future.
Through the Hand-Up program, we empower individuals who are ready to take the next step towards self-sufficiency and success. If you need assistance getting specific work tools or certifications for your job, Second Chance Society provides personalized support to help you secure or maintain employment and create positive, lasting change in your life.
Eligibility
To qualify for financial assistance with employment-related supports like work tools, licenses, or certifications, applicants must be:
- Broward County Residents
- 18+ years of age
- Homeless and/or low income
- Recently employed or actively seeking employment
Take the Next Steps
Application and Follow-Up
Once your case manager has successfully submitted the Hand-Up Program Application, Second Chance Society staff will be in touch within 24-48 to schedule an interview. The average timeframe from initial application to award is 7-10 business days, depending on the client’s availability and follow through.
