Pat Owen founded Second Chance Society in 2001 at the remarkable age of 75, driven by an unwavering belief that it’s never too late to make a difference. Pat saw a gap in support for individuals who were ready to work but lacked the basic tools to get started. With nothing more than determination, heart, and a clear mission, she launched SCS to help motivated individuals overcome homelessness and hardship by providing the resources they needed for a true second chance. What began as a grassroots effort has since blossomed into a respected and impactful organization, guided by Pat’s founding principles of compassion, dignity, and accountability. Her legacy lives on in every success story and in the ongoing work of SCS to break cycles of poverty and empower people to rebuild their lives. Pat’s courage to begin this journey at 75 continues to inspire staff, volunteers, and clients alike to believe in new beginnings at any age.
