Fractional Grant Writing Consultant

About the Role

Second Chance Society, Inc. is seeking a skilled Grant Writing Consultant to support our fundraising efforts by identifying and securing grant funding. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in nonprofit grant writing, funder research, and proposal development. This consultant will work closely with the Executive Director to align funding opportunities with the organization’s mission and programs.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities: 

Grant Research & Strategy: 

  • Identify and research prospective grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.  

  • Develop a grant calendar to track deadlines, reporting requirements, and submission timelines.  

  • Align funding opportunities with organizational priorities and program goals. 

Proposal Development & Writing: 

  • Draft compelling letters of inquiry, grant proposals, and applications.  

  • Work with program staff to gather necessary data, impact metrics, and budget details.  

  • Ensure all proposals are tailored to funders’ priorities and requirements. 

Grant Management & Reporting: 

  • Develop templates and processes for grant tracking and reporting.  

  • Assist in preparing grant reports and ensuring compliance with funder requirements.  

  • Support post-award grant management, including documentation and funder communications. 


Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience in nonprofit grant writing with a successful track record of securing funding.  

  • Strong research and analytical skills to identify relevant funding opportunities.  

  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling abilities with attention to detail.  

  • Ability to interpret financial statements and develop grant budgets.  

  • Knowledge of foundation, corporate, and government grant processes.  

  • Self-motivated, deadline-driven, and capable of working independently.  

  • Familiarity with donor databases and grant management tools is a plus. 


Compensation: 

  • Hourly or project-based contract (to be discussed based on experience and scope of work).
